East of the Sierra Rocks
The Owens River Valley and Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains are a geological wonderland. The scenery is spectacular with steep mountains rising over two miles on either side of the Owens River Valley. My images of that grand landscape are included in a separate portfolio. Equally enthralling, at least to me, are the shapes, forms, textures and colors of the rocks occurring at a much smaller scale. These images in this portfolio were made in the Alabama Hills, east of the Sierra crest, below Westgard Pass in the Inyo Mountains and at Fossil Falls south of Lone Pine, CA.
