Legacy Forests of the Pacific Northwest

This portfolio is about a new project that I’m working on. Much of the forest that once covered the Pacific Northwest was cleared for timber, fuel and settlement from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s. But such clearing continues but at a much smaller scale. Consequently, much of the Pacific Northwest is once again covered with trees. Some of these are in second growth forests that are 75-150 years old, often referred to as legacy forests. This project is my contribution to ensure that these returning forests get to mature and become old growth again. Thanks to Darius and Clark Kinsey who extensively photographed the forests of the Pacific Northwest in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
